PROBLEMS
Development and Innovation in Materials for Health.
01 / Bone Grafts
At least 50% of the bone grafting products on the market do not work properly, it is often reported that the products do not perform the function of bone regeneration. It is common for the dental surgeon to have to re-implant materials of different brands until obtaining adequate bone density to submit a metal implant with good fixation, sometimes in the third surgery.
02 / Bone Cements
In the ortophedics field, surgeons, in addition to reporting the inefficiency of the bone grafts, also report the need to develop bone cements with better interaction with the surrounding tissue and regenerative action besides mechanics. There are bone cement detachments due to lack of superficial chemical interaction.
03 / 3D printing
Material technology is a critical success factor for 3D printing. The 3D printing with biomaterial is in high increase stage and looking the co-innovation partners, There is this blind spot: the raw biomaterials suppliers to 3D printing. Raw or feedstock materials representing about 25% of overall 3D printing industry value.
